Thank you for your interest in having Catholic Charities' work as your agent to reach out to those who are in need.
Catholic Charities of Kalamazoo depends on the support of individuals, organizations and corporations to fulfill its mission. We simply could not afford to operate without the support of people like you. Your time, treasure and talent impact the level of service we are able to provide to those who seek our help. We offer many opportunities to help, including financial gifts, in-kind donations and volunteering.
Catholic Charities of Kalamazoo offers many opportunities throughout the year for individuals, organizations, corporations and foundations to make cash contributions. Your contribution can be made as a general donation or it can be designated to a specific CCDOK program of service of your choice. If you have any questions after reviewing the information below, please contact us at 269-381-9800 and we will be more than happy to assist you!
All of our programs depend upon donations of items for use by our clients and our Wish Lists (below) includes some of the items that we commonly need for each program. That said, we welcome other donations and encourage you to directly call the program or Jeannine Boehm (269-381-9800) to see if we can put your potential donation to good use.
Catholic Charities of Kalamazoo depends upon the generosity of our volunteers to help us accomplish our mission. Caring, compassionate volunteers, sharing their God-given gifts, talents and abilities, really make a difference in people's lives. We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and areas of expertise. Whether you are looking for a one-time experience or a long-term commitment, our volunteer coordinators will be glad to speak with you about your desire and ability to help. We invite you to learn more about volunteering at CCDOK by watching this video:
"I need all the prayers I can get!" This statement is sometimes delivered with a sense of humor, when someone makes light of a difficult situation. The request is made by a person who is speaking to you and is confident you would want to help. In loving response, you enter into prayer of petition with a hope-filled heart.
At Catholic Charities, we work with many people who need your prayers . . . your Prayer Care. You may never have met the person in need and, if you did meet, the person might not ask for your prayer. Some might lack the confidence to ask, some might be without hope, and some may not be able to turn to a loving God for help on their own. You can bring compassion to their situation and the awesome power of prayer to their life challenges.
Here is how you can enter into our Prayer Care activity . . .
Individual or Group Prayer Volunteers are needed on a regular basis at Caring Network. Every Monday and Wednesday from noon to 1:00pm prayer volunteers read written prayer requests from women, children, and participants at The Van Domelen Center (1441 South Westnedge Ave). These prayer requests are prayed over and given back to the staff with notes of encouragement. Parish Groups interested in taking one day per month are encouraged to come as well! Please contact Jeannine Boehm at 381-9800 to learn more.
Every time we get to say those words to a homeless youth, Catholic Charities of Kalamazoo has changed a life. We have worked with that youth to find a safe and stable place to live . . . and they are no longer couch-hopping or living on the streets. It's a major achievement. But a house is just that -- a house -- unless we are able to provide that youth with all the comforts and supplies that make a house a home.
That's where you have the power to help us change a life! Our Welcome Home Project provides an opportunity for groups in the community to come alongside a newly housed youth and provide that youth with kitchen, bathroom, and housekeeping supplies.
The impact? Not only does the youth have the supplies to keep their home clean and safe, but they also feel the love and support of a caring community as they continue on the path to self-sufficiency. It's a meaningful way for you to build a positive future for a youth in need.
If you'd like to help, we invite you to call Jeannine Boehm at 269-381-9800 and check out the list below. This list provides suggestions of the types of items these youth so desperately need.
We hope these stories have been an inspiration to you. They are part of a series of four that we will be sharing throughout the fall. We are only able to help people change their lives because of the support of our community -- and you. Every gift of treasure given to Catholic Charities makes a difference. No gift is too small. No gift is too large. We have established several giving opportunities throughout the year to make your contribution a rewarding and meaningful experience.
Catholic Charities is committed to our Performance and Quality Improvement process. This process encourages anyone- staff, clients, community members, and more- to suggest improvements. In addition, agency staff consistently review data from programs and services to see if there are opportunities to improve. These suggestions are then used to create positive changes. We welcome your input and will use it to make Catholic Charities a stronger agency, better able to serve our community!
