"I need all the prayers I can get!" This statement is sometimes delivered with a sense of humor, when someone makes light of a difficult situation. The request is made by a person who is speaking to you and is confident you would want to help. In loving response, you enter into prayer of petition with a hope-filled heart.
At Catholic Charities of Kalamazoo, we work with many people who need your prayers . . . your Prayer Care. You may never have met the person in need and, if you did meet, the person might not ask for your prayer. Some might lack the confidence to ask, some might be without hope, and some may not be able to turn to a loving God for help on their own. You can bring compassion to their situation and the awesome power of prayer to their life challenges.
Here is how you can enter into our Prayer Care activity . . .
Individual or Group Prayer Volunteers are needed on a regular basis at Caring Network's Prayer Place; volunteers spend one hour during the week reading written prayer requests from women, children, and participants at The Van Domelen Center (1441 South Westnedge Ave). These prayer requests are prayed over and given back to the staff with notes of encouragement. Parish Groups interested in taking one day per month are encouraged to come as well! Please contact Jeannine Boehm at 381-9800 to learn more.
